In industrial and automotive applications, it is frequently necessary that, when the pressure setting is reached, this is converted into an electrical signal that starts a machine cycle or indicates a certain situation (e.g. system leaks or alarms). These operations are generally controlled by components, called PRESSURE SWITCHES, that are calibrated according to the specific application.

Introduction

Industrial and automotive applications often require that a previously set pressure value be converted into an electric signal, which is used to either start off a machine cycle or signal a specific situation. (e.g. system leaks, alarms, etc. These operations are generally controlled by devices that are tuned according to the application and are referred to as PRES-SURE SWITCHES and VACUUM SWITCHES.

Maximum working pressure

The maximum pulsating pressure to which the sensor can be subjected without causing any kind of electro-mechanical damage, while maintaining the original technical specifications.

Settings

Euroswitch makes pressure switches with either adjustable and fixed setting. In models with adjustable setting, you merely need to turn the adjusting screw to set the desired pressure, taking care not to compress the spring fully. Rotate clockwise to increase the pressure. Then lock the screw with sealant. Pressure switches with adjustable setting can be factory-set to the pressure required by the customer. This value indicates the switching point at increasing pressure. On request, the setting can be done at decreasing pressure. The setting is made with minimum electric load in the contact circuit The stated tolerance is guaranteed for a brand-new product operating at room temperature.

For an accurate reading of the switching point, a maximum pressure variation of 1 bar/s is required on SPST pressure switches. Pressure variation for SPDT pressure switches depends on the setting point and model and may range from min.0.1 bar/s to max. 15 bar/s. Please contact Euroswitch for further information. The maximum permissible pressure variation rate is 1,000 bar/s.

Pressure switches must not be used as safety components.
