## Understanding Pump Diaphragms

### When to Replace Diaphragms

Replace diaphragms when you observe:

- Visible cracking or stiffening — material degradation

## Diaphragm Replacement Procedure

A general diaphragm replacement procedure (refer to your pump's specific manual):

1. Shut off air supply and disconnect the air line

2. Relieve pressure in the pump and liquid lines

3. Remove the pump from service if necessary

4. Loosen the outer chamber bolts and separate the liquid chambers

5. Remove the old diaphragms from both sides, noting orientation

6. Inspect the air valve, check balls, and seats for wear — replace if needed

7. Install new diaphragms with correct orientation and torque

8. Reassemble the pump, tightening bolts in a criss-cross pattern

9. Test the pump with air before returning to service
